Tectonic and stratigraphic evolution of the Carnarvon Basin, Northwest Australia

Summary

The purpose of the MERIWA M260 project was to determine the tectonic significance of the preserved Cenozoic and Mesozoic stratigraphy of the Carnarvon Basin.

We used an integrated approach incorporating both seismic sequence analysis and kinematic basin modelling to examine the first-order processes responsible for both the deformation of the lithosphere and the transport and deposition of sediments.
