Mine seismicity and rockburst risk management – phase I
Project Overview
Project Number
M0328
Total Grant Value
$747,000
Program Area
Project Theme
Engineering in Highly Stressed Rock Masses
Project Period
1999 - 2003
Summary
The project’s basic objectives were to address mine seismicity and rockburst risk issues in Western Australian mines, where high stress conditions combine with localized strong rockmass conditions and aggressive mining strategies in some ore bodies.
The approaches taken were technology transfer, training and applied research to better understand local problems, based partly on improving the management of seismic monitoring data. M0355 is an extension to this project.
Keywords: mine seismicity, seismic monitoring, rockburst risk, mine risk management
