Iron oxyhydroxide characterization and modification in bauxite: Tools for predicting and improving Bayer performance

Summary

In this study two sub-projects were carried out for the sponsor. The first one characterized Al-goethite, and the second boehmite because it can have an impact on autocrystallisation in liquors.

A method of selective dissolution of gibbsite and kaolin without affecting boehmite was newly developed in the project.
