Summary
The study examined the effect of chloride ion and gold telluride on the tendency of gold to vaporise and then deposit during the roasting of pyritic gold ores.
Samples of pyritic gold concentrates were doped with varying quantities of sodium chloride and roasted in a tube-furnace at 6000C.
Similar studies were conducted in oxygen on a concentrate preleached with cyanide solution.
Keywords: pyritic gold, gold extraction, gold telluride
