Summary
The project undertook to develop cost effective methods for the recovery of activated carbon in granular and powder forms from carbonaceous wastes of four synthetic rutile operations in WA.
The work showed that activated carbon from the synthetic rutile plants occupies a unique market place position in having an outstandingly high degree of mesoporosity combined with high surface area. This product has a high potential to be cost competitive.
