Top resources researcher Eric May scoops WA’s premier science accolade
UWA Professor and former MRIWA scholar Eric May was announced as Scientist of the Year at the 2021 Premier’s Science Awards
Professor May, the Chevron Chair in Gas Process Engineering at UWA and CEO of the Future Energy Exports CRC, received the honour for his world-leading research helping to meet the global demand for cleaner energy.
Alongside his own pioneering work, Professor May is committed to supporting others seeking to bring the value of scientific research to solving the challenges of the resources industry:
“Awards like WA Scientist of the Year are important because they inspire young people at the beginning of their careers to pathways that will help them reach their full potential.”
MRIWA is a proud supporter of WA’s world-leading and innovative researchers. Professor May himself benefitted from a MRIWA scholarship during his PhD studies, which he credits with providing valuable support at a critical time during his early research career.
