Since June 2024, Low Carbon Australia and Climate-KIC Australia have been working on a comprehensive study to develop a RD&D Roadmap for Western Australia’s heavy industry. Funded by the Minerals Research Institute of Western Australia (MRIWA) and the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science, and Innovation (JTSI), the project aims to identify and prioritise investment opportunities to guide the state toward achieving net zero emissions.

What is the RD&D Roadmap?

This roadmap focuses on heavy industries including mining, mineral processing, petroleum operations, and manufacturing sectors such as cement, ammonia, and fertiliser production. The goal is to pinpoint the priority areas for research, development, and demonstration to ensure these sectors can thrive in a low-carbon future.

Purpose of the Session

This interactive session aims to engage key stakeholders from industry, research, and government to:

  • Align on the current state of technology and future industry needs.
  • Gather feedback on the identified RD&D priorities.

The team will present the draft findings, answer your questions, and lead an engaging feedback session to refine these priorities. You’ll also have the opportunity to provide additional written feedback after the event.

Who Should Attend?

We encourage participation from industry, research, and government stakeholders, and are open to suggestions for additional participants such as industry body members. If you have any questions about the session or the participant list, please reach out to Tristy Fairfield or Nodoka Nakamichi.
