Expressions of Interest for a Member of the Minerals Research Institute of Western Australia Board
The Minerals Research Institute of Western Australia (MRIWA) is seeking expressions of interest for appointment as a Member to its Board.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate recent or current experience in commercialisation of new science or technology, private sector investment in R&D and project finance, intellectual property management, and knowledge of government processes.
Knowledge of a broad range of issues affecting the minerals industry, as well as projected trends, is essential. Prior governance experience, particularly in Audit & Risk, will be highly regarded, as will experience in clean energy and emissions reduction technology.
In line with the Public Sector’s commitment to diversity on boards, priority may be given to suitably qualified candidates who meet this outcome. Applicants must reside in Western Australia.
Short-listed candidates will be invited to an interview.
About MRIWA and its Board
MRIWA is a Western Australian statutory authority. Information about its activities and focus areas can be found here.
The MRIWA Board is appointed by the Minister responsible for the Minerals Research Institute of Western Australia Act 2013 (the MRIWA Act) and is comprised of seven members including the chairperson where:
- at least one is to have recent or current experience in the minerals industry; and
- at least one is to have recent or current experience in the minerals research sector or any other research sector; and
- each other member is to have knowledge of, and experience in, a field that is, in the opinion of the Minister, relevant to the Institute’s functions.
The Board is the governing body of MRIWA and oversees the administration of the organisation in accordance with the functions outlined in the MRIWA Act.
