Project Summary
This proposal seeks to apply an integrated basin study approach combining interpretation of multiple regional data sets (e.g. seismic, well, gravity, magnetics) with numerical to investigate multi-scale (lithospheric and crustal), multi-stage deformation processes providing insight into the link between basement and basin evolution, and subsequent mineralization processes within a series of key Western Australian basins.
This is the first systematic study of basement–basin–mineralization development completed in WA, and possibly elsewhere. The results of this work may have significant impact on the understanding of similar systems around the world.
